Our COVID-19 Response

Overnight Guest Accommodations

Reservations

The Inn is only accepting reservations from Rutgers University faculty, staff and departments during our phased reopening. This restriction ensures that those entering our building are adhering to the Rutgers University mandated guidelines. We WILL NOT accept reservations from anyone who is not employed by Rutgers University. In addition, we will not accept reservations from students affiliated with Rutgers University.

The Inn will have limited staff on property. All guests should plan on checking in before 10:00 P.M. We will have no overnight staff on site, but the emergency number located in your room will connect you to an on-call staff member.

Reservation Process

A reservation request form must be fully completed and submitted to allow us to verify that the requestor is, in fact, a Rutgers University faculty/staff member. When verified, the Inn staff will make the reservation on behalf of the guest. You can complete and submit the Guest Reservation Request Form.

Rates/Cancellation

The only published rate available is the discounted Rutgers University department rate of $76.00, plus taxes, per night. We will allow cancellations up until 4:00 p.m. the day of arrival.

Advanced Notice

Reservation request forms must be submitted 5 days prior to desired check in to allow us to plan for adequate staffing.

WINTER STORM ACCOMMODATION NOTICE: The 5 day Advanced Notice above does not apply for guests seeking overnight accommodations due to severe weather. All other required forms and validations remain in effect.

Arrival and Departure

Guests are required to maintain the recommended six-foot safe social distancing space. Floor markers have been added at the front desk for assistance. Face coverings must be worn by all guests when in the presence of others and while in public spaces within our facilities.

Check In

Contact free check-in protocols are in place. Guests will be asked to swipe their own credit cards. The front desk counter, credit card terminals and entire lobby area are sanitized using CDC approved disinfectant chemicals to combat COVID-19, following Rutgers University guidelines.

Check Out

We have implemented a paperless guest folio policy. Receipts will be automatically emailed to guests upon checkout. Key cards are to be returned to the drop box located in the lobby.

Guest Rooms

To ensure the safety of our guests, we follow CDC guidelines, as well as Rutgers University guidelines, in implementing measures from the point of check in through check out.

Room Readiness

Guest rooms are cleaned and sanitized using CDC approved disinfectant chemicals to combat COVID-19, following Rutgers University guidelines, and left vacant for 24 hours after sanitization is completed. Housekeepers wear approved PPE to maximize safety. Beds are prepared according to occupancy of reservation. We no longer make up a second bed, unless requested.

We have removed decorative pillows, baskets, coffee makers, ice buckets and alarm clocks for sanitary purposes. Coffee makers, ice buckets and alarm clocks are available upon request, and will be left in a sealed bag outside of the guest's room. Guests will receive a text once items have been placed outside the door.

Housekeeping Services

In an effort to keep our guests healthy and happy, we will not enter rooms once check-in has been completed. This affects our usual housekeeping services. At this point, we are suspending our daily cleaning service, and we offer the following Amenities-Only Service: each day, a sealed package of towels, soap and shampoo will be left directly outside of guests' doors. If any additional items are needed, our front desk staff can assist from 7:00 a.m to 11:00 p.m. These newly requested amenities will also be left outside guest room doors. A text notification will be sent once the items are in place.

We will provide extra garbage bags and empty bags for soiled linens/towels. We ask that guests seal trash and soiled linens/towels in separate bags, and then place these bags outside guest room doors for retrieval.

Staff

All Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center staff members adhere to Rutgers University prescribed guidelines including daily self-screening and reporting requirements, frequent hand washing, and the use of hand sanitizer after each guest interaction. For enhanced guest reassurance and to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, our staff members have completed training regarding the medical concerns, safety protocols, and behavioral changes of COVID-19 symptoms.

Capacity Limitations

Capacity limitations are in effect in public areas, elevators and public restrooms, and will be monitored by management.

All high touch areas are cleaned and sanitized throughout the day with CDC approved disinfectant chemicals to combat COVID-19, following Rutgers University guidelines. Bell carts are sanitized after each use. Hand sanitizer stations have been added in public areas.
