The Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center looks forward to welcoming you!  We hope the following information is helpful.

Walk in Reservations

The Inn no longer accepts walk in reservations.  All reservations must be made online, 1 day in advance.  Please email Deana Pagnozzi at with any questions.

Additional Reservations / Extending a Stay

If you booked an additional reservation with back to back arrival and departure dates, please let us know. We will make appropriate arrangements and do our best to keep you in the same room.

Already here and need to stay a little longer? Based on availability, we will gladly extend your stay. Please notify the front desk as soon as your travel plans have changed.

Arrivals / Departures

Check in begins at 4:00pm. Check out is by 10:00am.

Early Arrivals: We cannot guarantee early arrival. Based on availability on the day of arrival, we will do our best to accommodate early check in requests. Guests may store luggage securely on site.

Late Arrivals: Our hotel has desk staff from 7:00 am until 11:00 pm and staff on property 24/7. However, our doors lock at 9:00 pm for security purposes. We only accept guests with reservations after this time. If you have a reservation and arrive after 9pm, you may use the call box near the entrance to call the staff on duty. They will come to the entrance to let you in for check in.
Late Departures: Late departures are not guaranteed. Based on availability, we will do our best to accommodate requests. Departures extended beyond 12:00pm on the day of departure will incur an additional night's charge.
Early Departures: Early Departure fees will apply.  When you check in, you will be asked to confirm your departure date.  After reconfirming your departure date, if you decide to leave earlier, you will be charged for your remaining nights.


Debit and Credit cards will be authorized at check-in for the amount of your stay, plus an amount to cover incidentals. If your reservation has been prepaid, your card will be authorized for incidentals only. The authorization will hold the funds until check out, at which time the amount actually incurred during the stay will be charged.

An authorization is a temporary hold and reduces one’s credit card limit, but it is NOT a transaction charge and will NOT be reflected in one’s credit statement.  Debit cards work the same way and will place a hold on funds, thereby reducing the amount in your connected bank account.

Authorized amounts may take up to 14 days after departure to be released by your bank or financial institution and the hotel is not be responsible for any resulting fees or charges.

Questions about the understanding of authorizations or when the amount will drop off should be directed to the bank associated with the card.


We have a variety of cancellation policies used for our facility which apply to individual overnight reservations. All reservations will outline the specific policy that is applicable to the rate selected. You will have the opportunity to review the policy and agree to it before completing a reservation. In addition, the cancellation policy specific to your reservation will appear on your confirmation.  Group reservations must refer to their respective contracts for detailed cancellation terms.

Gift Certificates

When redeeming a gift certificate, do not make a reservation online, please call the Guest Services (732) 932-9144, ext. 0 desk to book your accommodations.


Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Nonsmoking Facility

Per university policy, our entire facility is non-smoking.


Complimentary parking is provided for event attendees and overnight travelers in LOT 82The front desk will register guest vehicle information electronically upon check in.  You will need your license plate information upon check in.  Please be sure to bring that information so you can avoid having to go back out to your car.   Rutgers University students must check their individual permit for parking restrictions.


We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa credit cards and cash for overnight guest room reservations. We do not accept external Purchase Orders.

Pets / Service Animals

Tenant shall not have any animals, birds, or pets of any nature on or about the Premises, with the exception of certified service animals.  If necessary, Tenant agrees Rutgers shall have the right to procure cleaning and deodorization as a result of the service animal at Tenant's expense and Tenant agrees that the resulting charges may be deducted from their security deposit or charged to their credit card.  Tenant agrees to be fully responsible for any damage caused to the property by the service animal and for any and all wear and tear resulting, and agrees to fully compensate Rutgers for any and all such damage or additional wear and tear.

Purchase Orders

Rutgers University departments paying by internal purchase order should prepare a requisition upon receipt of reservation confirmation. Purchase orders must include the following information: guest name, reservation dates, and reservation ID number. Blanket purchase orders may be used for individual guests with multiple reservations. All reservation dates and confirmation numbers must be included in the body of the blanket. Multiple guests may not be used on a single purchase order unless as part of a group reservation.

Preparers using RU Marketplace should select internal supplier name IPO: Univ. Inn & Conference Center (856) for lodging. Once the purchase order has been approved, please email the release number to


The Inn offers many rates and packages for both our meeting attendees and our individual business and leisure travelers.  Rates are valid for single and double occupancy. Additional guests incur a $10.00 charge with a maximum number of 4 guests per room. Offers and promotions for our individual business and leisure travelers are not available for group or meeting attendees, group bookings or meetings.

Rollaway Beds/Cribs

Due to fire code regulations, we do not provide rollaway beds or cribs.

Shipping Packages

You may ship materials to our location. Be advised that all USPS and UPS ground mail is delivered to Rutgers University mail services before it is delivered to us. Please allow a couple more days transit time. If you are shipping with another carrier via express methods, it should come directly to us in a timely fashion. We will hold your package securely in guest storage until arrival. Address your package using the following format:

All reservations are subject to New Jersey sales tax, state tax, and municipal occupancy tax. The state of New Jersey requires organizations requesting exemption from state sales tax to provide a tax exempt certificate issued by the state of New Jersey.

There is an exemption from paying the State and Municipal Occupancy Tax for:

  1. agencies and instrumentalities of the United States;
  2. agencies, instrumentalities, public corporations or political subdivisions of the State of New Jersey;
  3. the United Nations or any international organization of which the U.S. is a member

For detailed information on Exemptions, please visit the State of New Jersey’s Division of Taxation website. If you qualify for tax exempt status, based on the criteria listed above, we will remove applicable taxes at the point of check in.

Third Party Payments

If you have booked a reservation on behalf of another guest and you would like your credit card to be charged the room and tax for the entire stay, you must alert the Inn via email at  You are also required to complete a Credit Card Authorization Form.

Travel Agencies

Reservations at our property are non-commissionable. Please instruct your guests to make their own arrangements.
